[This challenge had been started by swirldude for the spring contest. Part of the introduction/rules is from his topic, other parts are from the Oracle Challenge (previously run by King Morgoth and now by Kaxon), so full credits to all of them.]

The Challenge

For each match in the GameFAQs Summer Contest you predict the percentage of bracketeers that predicted the correct winner. (Bracketeers = people that entered a valid bracket)
New participants are still being accepted anytime before the semifinals of the actual contest bracket (please indicate that you are new and make a minimum of three picks).

You DON'T need to pick the correct winner.

In Round 1 you can make a prediction for either of the two contestants (as the other's percentage would be 100-x). The closer your prediction, the more points you will get.
Starting with Round 2, I advise you to make predictions for both contestants (100-x cant be applied anymore)! If you think the winner is obvious you can go ahead and only give a prediction for him. But beware: if you are wrong and I didn't get a prediction for the actual winner, you get no points.

Please use a new line for each of your predictions, as this will facilitate the evaluation (still by hand), e.g.

Mario 80%
Ness with 60%
not
Mario 80%, Ness 60%, Zero 50%, Lloyd 100%

The Scoring

Points will be awarded according to the formula 50-x with x being the difference between your prediction and the actual prediction percentage.

Example for Round 1:
Mario beats Joanna Dark. 93.45% of brackets get it correct.

Prediction of Mario with 93.45% = 50 points
Prediction of Mario with 90.09% = 46.64 points
Prediction of Bowser with 43.45% or lower = 0 points.
Prediction of Joanna Dark with 6.55% = 50 points.

Example for Round 2 and later:
Mario and Ness both won their first round. Now Mario beats Ness. 85.61% of brackets get it correct.

Prediction of Mario with 81.41% or Ness with 5.15% = 45.8 points (independent of the Ness prediction)
Prediction of Mario with 81.41% = 45.8 points
Prediction of Ness with 5.15% = 0 points (!)

Rules

1) All predictions must be made one full hour before the usual start time of that match's poll (approx. 2:00am EST, 1:00am CST, 11:00pm PST, 8:00am CET?). Predictions submitted after this time will not be counted or may be subject to penalty. No predictions will be accepted after a poll has started, regardless of the start time.
2) Your prediction does not need to be different from everybody else's guess. However, intentional and continuous prediction mimicry will not be allowed.
3) You may change your prediction for any match at any time, subject to the rules above. Please indicate clearly that this is a change to a previous entry. (E.g. by starting your post with CHANGE)
4) You many not delete any post in a prediction topic (if you do, please post immediately after to explain the deletion). This is to prevent abuse of the above rule (and to reduce confusion).
5) You may predict matches in advance if you need to. Please make this very clear.
6) I reserve the right to disqualify a pick for any justifiable reason

Additional comment: I will try and update the standings often. But I will not be around from 6-16 August. Ngamer64 promised to take care of any necessary bumping and saving issues (or if necessary creating a new topic, depending on the number of participants). Feel free to help him, and thanks already.

Good point there. But I would argue that a lot of people didn't want to be surprised by Vivi's performance anymore (see last year) and thus supported him in their bracket. Maybe? (we'll see in a bit more than an hour)

Zelda surprises me (and a lot of people on board 8 as well) by winning her match without a problem against Vivi, getting 59.56% of the votes.

But it's better than my reasoning: I thought people would not underestimate Vivi anymore after what he did to DK last year and thus more would choose him. But I was proven completely wrong. Or I strongly underestimated people's confidence in Zelda...

Status Quo in the top 5 of the leaderboard today. Megaman rulez foreva still dominating, but alpha door on second is still in close range to him. 8 points behind on third place resides Lopen, he himself having created a gap of almost 11 points to Jman_gamerX8 on fourth and GrapefruitKing on fifth place.
Behind them, Smurf87, greatone10 and GalacticMage777 on places 6-8 are within half a point. About 4 and 7 points behind, Lagoona and Draco1214 hold ninth and tenth place, being the last ones scoring over 680 points after the first half of Round 1.

Let's see how it continues in the second half of this round...

All my changes have been for the worse. >.< At least they've been working this time around in the Oracle challenge...

Almost exactly the opposite here. All but one changes I made in the Oracle challenge cost me points... I could have at least 10 more if I hadn't touched any of my initial safety picks... (then again, some predictions that I didn't change also turned out to be awful - see yesterday's Ryu prediction...)
And here I do not fare that badly...

Well, this time I did well here, pathetic in the oracle for the last match. No idea why I had such a big percentage there, probably meant to do 10% less. That's what you ge for not checking your predictions.

Pretty much out of both comps, but I'm interested to see how I end up. Improved a bit the last few days here at least.

Important Announcement:

After this weekend I will be on holiday for about 10 days, and I'm also not sure how much I'll be online during this weekend (I'm invited to a wedding). During this time I will not be able to update the picks and scores and post the results.

But I promise I will do that immediately once I'm back and post updates match by match!
In the meantime, keep posting your predictions as if I was here. Ngamer64 promised to keep the topic running and to save the predictions if the 500 limit should be reached before I'm back. (Please don't forget that, Ngamer.) Anyone else could help, too. Thanks a lot in advance.

Later I will also open a new topic for Round 2 predictions. Please make sure that one doesn't purge as well, everyone. (It this topic here should be full, you can also post remaining predictions and changes in the new Round 2 topic.)
