Good luck everyone! --- Um, not to criticize science or anything, but wouldn't it be easier just to call it "the pink one"? --- Fall 2007: The Great GameFAQs Character Battle VI 128 characters. 4 characters battle, 2 move on. It's all or nothing. The users of GameFAQs have nominated 128 video game characters and it's time to let them battle it out. Starting September 3rd (tentative), the 128-character winner-take-all tournament will begin. Using the Poll of the Day to decide, the most popular character will take the this year's title. Year number six of the Character Battle is an all-out melee: Each day of the poll, four characters will battle it out, and the top two characters will move on. There's no championship round, no characters are held back, and there's no (visible) seeding. Your mission is simple: Choose which two characters will survive each day's battle. Fill out your best guess at how the final brackets will turn out, and win a prize. Don't forget: This is not a contest to see which character is your favorite, or even which one is the most powerful. It's all a big popularity contest, and visitors who have never visited GameFAQs before will be sure to stop in and vote. For each of the 63 battles, pick the first and second place characters who will move on from each day's poll. For the first round of 32 polls, picking each one of the correct characters to move on from day's poll will score two points each for the correct order, and one point for the wrong order (i.e. picking the first place character to finish second or vice versa). For each successive round, picking the winners will earn double the points of the round before (Round 2: 4/2 points, Division Final: 8/4 points, Quarter-Finals: 16/8 points, Semi-final: 32/16 points, Final: 64/32 points). The sum of all points earned is your final score. --- A Thanks to Zachnorn From: SBAllen | Posted: 9/22/2007 9:27:10 PM | Message Detail Just a simple thank you to Zachnorn for providing Matt's improved picture for the Sunday battle. --- Um, not to criticize science or anything, but wouldn't it be easier just to call it "the pink one"? --- SBAllen Posted 10/25/2007 12:39:15 PM message detail It's almost time for the quarterfinals of the character battle and it's that time for user submitted images to go up for the battles! GameFAQs is accepting user-submitted images for the final rounds of the Character Battle contest. Images submitted after the deadline cannot be considered. * All images submitted must be 280 pixels wide by 150 pixels high. You should submit your image in JPEG (uncompressed), PNG, or BMP format. * Images for the final round should pit comparable images from the series against one another (i.e. renders, 16-bit sprites), and neither side should have an "advantage" in the image. * Images should follow the same basic format as every other image in every other contest: As displayed in the bracket, the four characters should appear sequentially. Each character should take up approximately one quarter of the entire image space. * All artwork used in the image must be offical game art, from in-game screenshots or renders, or user-created art. No third-party fan artwork or photographs can be accepted. * All submissions become the property of CNET Networks, and no award or payment will be given for used submissions, but users will of course be credited for their images on the home page of the site if selected. --- And the winner of the sixth annual Character Battle is Li... L-Block? Seriously? Yes, the users have spoken, and the beloved Tetris block has won the final battle. To celebrate L-Block's stunning upset, as well as the 12th Anniversary of GameFAQs, today we're having one last battle as a bonus to close out this year's contest. Thank you to everyone who participated! ---
