The only way I see Pikachu not making the third round, is if Vivi turns
out to be an absolute monster after his KH2 appearance, and can

the second runner-up going to the third round is pretty much between
Tidus/Vivi and I'm kinda split on that but I may go with Vivi.

Because people HATE Pikachu. Beating out Leon, Tidus, and Vivi? Yeah,
considering this is the guy who got destroyed by Fox McCloud in 2003, I

Because even splitting those fanbases in half is more than enough to
advance past Pikachu. If he makes it to round 2, he's up against three
characters with real fanbases, not "He's from company X and everyone
else sucks votevotevote." You can only ride that "sole Nintendo
character" piece so far before it gets out of hand. You're saying -- of
sound mind and body -- that people will actually be voting Pikachu in
greater numbers than either Vivi or Tidus. what --- Believe |

Never said he'd beat out Leon, and he would probably not win 1v1 with
Tidus or Vivi, but with this format, coupled with Tidus/Vivi killing
each other and Pikachu being the sole Nintendo character, this seemed

Since when was Pikachu supposed to be having a core following again? He's up against two FF characters (one who looks like a universal image of the franchise) and the star of RE4. You guys are putting too much faith in old stats from 2002. But w/e, we'll see who's laughing when the time comes. Now, let's just assume for a second that I'm right, and the round 3 is Leon/Dante/Pika/Balthier, how would that go down? Dante > Balthier? Yeah, you could replace Leon Kennedy with an even stronger Square
character of your choice (which might even include Cloud), and Pikachu

coupled with Tidus/Vivi killing each other and Pikachu being the sole Nintendo character, this seemed like a no-brainer to me. but Tidus and VIvi won't kill each other that bad. Pikachu may be the sole Nintendo character but he can't go as far as to even come close to Vivi and Tidus slightly weakened. --- Network Premiere of: "GA All The Way." Balthier isn't even the star of a game that's on par with FF9 in
popularity. He's going to bomb and the only reason he has a free pass

Pikachu doesn't have a core following, but Pokemon the series does, as
evidenced by the BSE by it going nearly even with Metroid. Not to
mention the fact that Diamond/Pearl are relatively new, Nintendo
support and Smash hype are both at an all-time high, and Pikachu is
easily the most recognizable character there. This seems fairly obvious

So what am I really hearing is that just because Pikachu is Nintendo,
the hive-mind Nintendo fans vote for Pikachu over the others. Not

2k2 stats or not, do you take Pikachu > DK? If not, you wouldn't
find it wise to take Pika > Vivi then. Pikachu got 20% on a pre-KH
Cloud (no SFF) while Vivi got, what, 28% against a post-KH Sephiroth
(who seemingly resisted SFF)? Tidus ain't going to hurt Vivi much, and
Leon's got a much larger fanbase than Pikachu. I've got Pika in round two, but he'll have to fight for even the #3 position, much less surviving another round. --- PETITION: a "Contest Suggestions" board. Nintendo and Square share many of the same fanboys. Pikachu isn't going
to have this huge advantage over the others in this match because,

What I guess I'm trying to say, is that while he probably won't be
another Auron, Balthier should do fairly good in these contests,

Remember when people were using the release of R/S to say Pikachu > Fox. Top FAQ list means nothing. Pokemon hate has died down which is why I'm taking Pikachu to the next round, but Pikachu is not as strong as Vivi and Tidus after they SFF each other. Ok., here's some questions I have: Who goes second to Sonic in the first round? PoP or Sub-Zero? Who goes second to Sora in the first round? Wesker or Lara? Kratos/DK/Marth/Prince.... Kratos > DK? It's worth noting that Pikachu's first match consists of four RPG
characters and, assuming he survives, his second match will have three
RPG characters and a survival-horror star. Pikachu is arguably the
weakest in general strength for his second match, too, and Vivi held up
great to Sephiroth so Tidus won't be much of a factor to him. For
Pikachu to advance, Leon would have to bomb and Vivi would have to SFF

Because unless it was sometime in the last 2 or 3 months, I can't really take the results with a grain of salt. Well, he is, in his own right, a very likeable (read: cute) character.
And from a popular game. I'm thinking that Pika-Pika can do it. The
anti-voting of the rat is long over, because no one gives a crap about
the TV show. And 10 year olds will come here for 'Mon help, and see
Pikachu, and vote him. No 10 year old has played RE4, and most could

FFXII was out only 5 weeks when that poll was taken and it had already
matched FFIX's level. At that point, ownership level was at 38%.
There's no doubt that in the past eight months FFXII has garnered a lot
more followers. I think FFXII's performance in that poll was rather

Actually, FF9 was never undershadowed IIRC. People were disappointed
from the day it came out with how much of a step backwards it was after
