Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 460

I don't see why this afterschool vote is even a surprise. it was expected..

Expected, yes, but...not to this extent. The gains that Axel is making are almost as impressive as the ones Sonic was making on Crono. Prolly more so, since it's 4-way and Samus is there.

KH is probably even better with the day vote than Sonic, though, and back in 2005 Frog's day vote was already horrible, while Crono's was actually decent. Crono's day vote got much worse last year, so Frog's probably got even worse than it already was.

Man, Frog sure doesn't like to do this the easy way, does he? He's completely incapable of holding anyone back. He's like Donkey Kong, only you know he's going to find a way to pull this out, no matter what Axel does. He chokes away big leads, yet he still wins.

A conveniently placed stall by Frog there.

And for this to be Kairi/Claire II, Axel would have to whip Frog in the end. That ain't gonna happen.

after skimming through the last few pages about this match, i am really baffled that anyone would be all that shocked by the way this match is going. Frog and Axel are both following their previous school-day voting patterns exactly (well, Axel is follwing the Kingdom Hearts voting pattern). i am fairly certain that Axel will continue to blast away at Frog's lead until about 7 or 8 EST and come within a few hundred votes (i'm guessing around 300-500). following that, Frog will start to stall Axel for a while and then slowly build his lead back up over the last hour or two.

no surprises.

I support the following SC2K6 characters:

XIII_rocks | Posted 9/5/2007 1:17:57 PM | message detail
But once again, the small cut is more than compensated for by the massive cuts he made in the three previous updates.

Xuxon | Posted 9/5/2007 1:20:11 PM | message detail
Like I said, I wouldn't expect 400 votes to happen. But Axel just took off 300 in an hour, and would need to go even faster if he's going to build up a huge lead and still have a 400 vote lead by 10:30. Also at the end, there will be rallying, and Samus/Kerrigan won't be getting nearly as many votes (even Link/Cloud lost votes in the heat of Snake/Sephiroth).

yeah, I'm not surprised by this at all. I was surprised when it DIDN'T happen. this is Frog. and Kingdom Hearts.

come on, what did you expect? I said a 2000 vote lead was needed to make me feel confident, and I'm sticking by that. Frog didn't get there. I still like his chances, but I certainly wouldn't say it's a lock.

You realize that Axel will need 51 30-gain updates to even be even with Frog right? Thats over 4 straight hours of 30 vote gains. But even if that happens, by the time it does Frog is going to start to rally back. If Frog never broke 1200 votes or so on Axel, then this comeback might have had a chance.

I refuse to believe we have only "serious" brackets on the third day. it's not that hard to pick the first two days correct if you knew how the rules worked.

I think we'll be under 1200 if Frog wins, and under.. 500?, if Axel wins. who knows. I've yet to see a "good" prediction percentage.

It really is.

At a rate of 30 votes per update, Axel ties it in four hours. But since there is always the occasional stall and such, the time will bleed into the late evening vote and give Frog a chance to recover. Axel needs to increase the pace.

It really was. Axel needs to keep up *this* pace to win. 30 votes per 50 minutes won't cut it, because you know Frog is going to get a second wind around 9:30 like he always does.

Axel can build a lead with the remaining hour, then (judging by Jill) he'll have the night vote to contend with.

I hope I'm not speaking too soon, but Pascal Chimbonda is one of the best Right-Backs in the world right now.
