Pokemon vs Brawl would be pretty interesting... heh. The series kept up with Metroid, which it was pretty much R/b/y vs Super Metroid. --- *is Dranze* Through fire, justice is served because FastFalcon05 owned my bracket. |

| I wouldn't say easily... after seeing Pokemon the
past few years (Well, Pikachu), I'm sure R/B/Y will be the strongest

The only Nintendo games that I see beating Melee/Brawl are... Pikachu and Mewtwo did fine the last contest, but they're still not
much more than midcarders, and Pokemon is not a top tier game, afraid

Honestly, I'm starting to feel worse and worse about SSBB in
SFF-situations. We've seen the hype-comparisons with SSBB/MGS4, their
ownership-polls on days of release, and the system-polls for the
Wii/PS3...and, really, no matter how well-received MGS4 was, it never
should have been in contention with SSBB here based on those (much less
straight-up beat it in one poll). That, coupled with the anti-Wii
sentiment, tells me it could be in for some surprises if it faces
another game the Nintendo fanbase embraces. It's not like it got a lot
of its fanbase's support against non-Nintendo games. Don't get me wrong, SSBB is still strong and can still SFF some games (it wrecked the MKW in the Wii-GotY). However, I wonder just how well it would do against Nintendo games that have built a strong foundation here now. I don't know about Pokemon R/B/Y being the game to upset it, but I wonder what games could pull out huge surprises against SSBB. I wouldn't be surprised if SSBB would allow rSFF against it sometimes. --- Prototype Shorthand, do you speak it?! |

What level would that be? We still don't have much on it. We don't, but Brawl should be decently strong. It won't hang with a lot of the big games we talk about (FFX, TP, MGS1, RE4, etc.), but it'll be above the GTAs or Halos or whatever, and that's where I'd expect Pokemon to be at. --- Enough expository banter! Yes, unless Brawl actually gets put up against something like RBY, I
get the feeling that I'm actually going to take it further than the

Well, I don't know if it would be rSFF or not, but I'm pretty sure SMG
would beat SSBB head-to-head now. CoD4/FO3 would be a pretty good
match, SMG will also have big ownership on the Wii and it surprised
people with how good and original it was as opposed to many SSBB-fans
feeling like it was a step back in the series. We also know SMB >
SSB from the series contest, for whatever that's worth (probably not
much!). I would think SMG and maybe some other Nintendo games around
its range (...wherever that range is) could be in line to pull that

Well, I don't think highly of Brawl at all. Mario 64 ran into some
nasty SFF with Ocarina, and SMW ran into Chrono Trigger. I'm one of
those who thinks older games aren't going to fold against newer stuff
just because it's recent. Brawl divides way too many people to beat an

Haha, nothing they did in the contest made me think that (well, I do
doubt SSBB beats Sonic 2 like SMW did.....), but they've earned big
places in the hearts of many Nintendo fans that SSBB should have done but failed to. Besides, I wouldn't expect FO3 to get ~46% on SM64 or SMW. --- Prototype Shorthand, do you speak it?! |

I would enjoy a FO3/Pokemon match. It would probably be close, lots of
people would get mad either way it went, and they're different kinds of
