Didn't Mega Man get old school cover art against Ms. Pac-Man, and people caused such a fuss about it that Ceej changed it?

Zack/Yuna is kinda weird because they have their backs to each other and to us, but FFX Yuna >>> FFX-2 Yuna, so it's all good.

At least 45%. Rikku has proven to do better in matches with the X-2 pic (didnt she get 45% against Ryu with it?), so would likely be the same for Yuna.

I'm going to argue something that I would rather not argue because it generally hasn't worked out so well since, well, ever. But between this match and Alucard/Magus an idea is forming, so I will do it.

I'm going to argue for Kefka.

Or more accurately, I'm going to argue against Arthas.

Last year, both Ike and Arthas impressed by putting up mid forties on Pikachu in the first round. Ike was impressive because he nearly beat Arthas while being LFF'd and Arthas was impressive for the good numbers on the rat. But with the benefit of hindsight let's look at this a little more closely.

In the second round, Arthas' percentage on the rat dipped considerably. Fine, Ike was replaced by The Captain and Arthas was no longer in a match for his life; instead, Pikachu was.

With Alucard.

Which gives us an interesting comparison. Arthas got about 42% on Alucard last year (he didn't get last place, either, Falcon did). Magus got about 42% on Alucard this year. I seem to remember Magus/Kefka coming up during the Alucard match and several people siding with Kefka...

But then, Arthas was still impressive because he matched Ike and Ike looked like no slouch last year. But what if that result on Pikachu was fueled by a combination of OFPF and the fact that Ike needed votes an awful lot more than the rat did? Ike in 2007, as I'm sure you will remember, was slightly weaker than Duke Nukem. Guess who else was slightly weaker than Duke Nukem? A glowing pink Kefka wearing an absurd towel in his match picture.

But that's not really fair to Ike; he had Radiant Dawn and a game you might have heard of called Super Smash Bros. Brawl or something in between 2007 and 2008. That would be a much fairer point if it wasn't for the LFF in Ike's match last year. Despite the fact that I think Ike stole some of the rat's votes (Arthas probably did too, but 1) Arthas+Pikachu fans are weird, and 2) it was assuredly a lower percentage than Ike), the LFF was probably fairly significant. After all, even OFPF hitting Pikachu doesn't explain his excellent performances in the third and fourth round if Ike/Arthas are garbage. So that brings up a question - Is Ike-hindered-by-Pikachu that much stronger than 2007 Brawl-hype Ike? Meta-Knight and Pit would be a good measuring point, and, indeed, LFF'd Pit looked awful in 2008 (not that Brawl-hype Pit was anything to be proud of and he was LFF'd in that match too) and Meta-Knight didn't look noticeably better after Brawl (and that was going from a LFF situation into a clean one).

So how much is Arthas worth, really? And could it be less than Kefka?

I don't really plan to follow up on this too much. For one, it means arguing with Albion and no one wants that. And there's lots of alternative explanations that are more or less reasonable - Ike spiking in value last year because of Brawl and then coming back down to earth ala Liquid Snake, or Fire Emblem fading away because Shadow Dragon was generally ill-recieved and there hasn't been anything new in the series. (Alucard spiking this year is not a reasonable explanation, so don't try it, red sox!) But this is an awful result for Ike, and now we have two matches waving warning flags for Arthas, so I couldn't resist. Consider it as a reasonable look (and keep in mind I'm a bigger Fire Emblem fanboy than anything, so Ike being garbage hurts), or dismiss it as the ravings of a delusional Kefka fan as you wish.
