associated with the best holiday of the year, unlike our great hero
Link who overflows with character depth. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

Do
they really stop? I've complained about Crono/Sonic and Crono/Vincent
2007 for years. Not to mention Mario/Crono and Mario/Cloud, where the
controversy has continued for 7-8 years. Or how about Zelda always
winning? People complain about that all the time. You know there's a difference. For one thing you barely mention it, as much as you didn't like it you didn't make a huge fuss and your tone is very different than what's going on here or even the daily whiners that we get every day. Everyone has results that they don't like and we can all go a list them, but when the stats topic makes me feel like I have to go to the stupid replies for whiners topic one week after the actual match then something is wrong. Heck Extha calmed down sooner than these guys. Link might be able to actually win in Asia for once! And I would imagine Santa has more of a Day Vote, since he's called other names over in Europe. rather you explain why you care so much about a game you've never
played ranking highly on a list. 'Cult' is not a good reason. It's funny, because the people who played it and didn't like it didn't care about it getting on the list. It was only the people who had never played it that complained. --- DFF |

a bunch of people every time who go I CAN'T BELIEVE WE RANKED UMINEKO
GOD DAMNIT BOARD 8, with none of them having actually played it. Persona 4 is like Pokemon. Started as a huge fad. Still remained damn popular though, because it was actually good. |

Perhaps not as vocal as Umineko (though I've not really seen as much

ought to make you reevaluate if you're justified being so upset here.
People voted SSBB over SSBM here, and IGN had SSBB beat SSBM and SSB
combined. Most SSBM-fans have moved on to SSBB pretty gracefully, even
if they still prefer SSBM deep down...except a few adamant fans. The
rest of the world isn't treating SSBB like it's SMS, and watching
people do it here so melodramatically is petty and selfish, like Ulti
said. It shouldn't be surprising that Brawl won. It's a game that intentionally targets the lowest-common denominator, skill-wise. People who are casual fans of both probably would be expected to like Brawl more - it has everything that they like about Melee and more and it's far more forgiving of mistakes (much more difficult to die at low percentages, better recovery for characters in general, more floaty characters in general, very easy to DC out of a lot of combos, etc.). And those people are more numerous, I think. Of course, Brawl still failed to even things up between the skilled and unskilled players, simply because even with those crutches given to unskilled players, it doesn't make up for differences in skill. But those same things that make it appealing to casuals are achieved basically by taking away what made Melee fun as a competitive game. The problem was that with Melee, Sakurai intentionally tried to make the game better for hardcore players - but clearly didn't leave casual players behind. It is possible for a game to be a good competitive game and be accessible to people of varying skill levels. That's what we got with Melee, and what we were expecting with Brawl. Instead, Sakurai decided that he would rather sacrifice the things that made Melee better in exchange for making casual players feel like they suck marginally less. And in exchange, we got a game that is broken as a competitive game and needs fan patches to make it worth playing in a tournament setting. Given what we were expecting, how it was hyped to us, and what was essentially a bait-and-switch that we got, it shouldn't be surprising that Brawl receives a lot of venom. I don't even think it's a bad game, per se. It's just very disappointing.
