It's not just how many people have heard of the character, though that's a part of it. Leon Kennedy is from a popular series with a high playrate on GameFAQs, I would wager higher than Spyro. For the sake of argument, let's assume 50% of the site has played an RE game, while 40% has played Spyro. Since there is a character with a higher playrate in the poll, noone's going to vote for the mascot Spyro. But in today's match, you take that same 40% Spyro playrate and compare it to mayb 20% for Walking Dead, and 5% for Xenoblade (being generous). People don't have strong feelings for Spyro, but against 2 obscure characters, he's going to dominate. This is contest logic 101 --- Game of the decade? More like Guru of the decade mirite? I am absolute garbage in the Expert Challenge though, kept messing up
second and third place. Looking ahead, I have Thrall, Wheatley, and
Bayonetta advancing. I'll be surprised if I'm still there after those
three matches. I was on the leaderboard in 2010 too - I called Charizard's run and Snake beating Sephiroth correctly, and if Snake had beaten Cloud I would have finished on the board. --- And then the car wash cost five dollars. |

I can see Skylanders giving Spyro a boost, even if only kids play it.
It's scary to say, but people that were teens during the 2002 contest
