i wonder if there's actually some reverse SFF going on

we know from previous matches that Persona 5 is around 10% ahead of P4. so this performance is currently putting Smash about exactly on par with it. i think a lot of us expected smash to be the number 2 game in the bracket.

absolutely theres Reverse Sff.

which makes no sense because zelda got sffd hard. Theres no way in hell anyone would take gta or red dead to go near LBW.

its a handheld zelda and noone gives a s*** about those

Smash 4 (2015g) VS Persona 4 (2015g)

Smash 4 has a strength of 30.96.
Persona 4 has a strength of 25.16.

Smash 4 wins with 59.37% of the vote!
A win of 11,404 with 60,875 total votes cast.

Mario Galaxy (2015g) VS Persona 4 (2015g)

Mario Galaxy has a strength of 30.71.
Persona 4 has a strength of 25.16.

Mario Galaxy wins with 59.04% of the vote!
A win of 11,002 with 60,875 total votes cast.

Just how strong is P4G (, RDR and GTA5)? It's making SSBU look like SSB4 and SMO look like SMG. This is assuming SSBU is not getting any SFF on Xenobalde but SFF'd SMO badly.
Link isn't the only one who kicks ass.

theres more reason for Sff between SMO and Smash than xenoblade because theyre on the same system. Like how OoT would SFF mario 64 harder than a mario wolrd

I am a firm believer that Galaxy has been underrated (or has boosted), BUT SMO is definitely stronger based on polls. Really I still think SSBU=SMO indirectly, just look at how wacky the division 3 x-stats look for that.

Also P4 is unquestionably stronger (just look at it through RDR, which you would expect to boost since 2015), and even though it probably shouldn’t be, P4G=P4.

I don't know HOW a boring survival open-world game, with all that genre's frustrating trappings, and utterly fails to pay respect to its series, is beating one of the greatest RPGs ever made.
There's utterly nothing enjoyable about Breath of the Wild. It's empty, slow, filled with unnecessary limitations (stamina, weapon and shield fragility, temperature gauge) and tedious grinding for resources, and extremely repetitive due to the countless aesthetically-identical shrines and the countless Korok seeds. It also doesn't pay any credence to the "Legend of Zelda" name it dishonestly bears; there's only a small number of tools Link gets rather quickly, and Legend of Zelda ISN'T a survival series.

Mass Effect 2, meanwhile, is a fantastic RPG that exceeds all expectations. It's got a wonderful story, deep and interesting characters, meaningful choices, excellently-designed locations, enjoyable gameplay...it's got it all. It's best if one plays through ME1 first, of course, and transfers their save through to ME2, but as a standalone game it's brilliant. In my eyes, ME3 tops it in gameplay and story progression (notably not having forced progression, like ME2 does - after doing a certain number of missions in ME2, the Illusive Man calls and forces Shepard to visit a new place. I'd prefer to do all the sidequests I can before progressing, thanks), but Mass Effect 2 is still utterly brilliant.

That just baffles me, how so many people can prefer yet another open-world survival game over one of the best RPGs ever.

Also, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has no singleplayer content - Classic Mode and All-Star Mode have both been butchered and turned practically unrecognisable, and the World of Light is tedious trash.
Xenoblade Chronicles is a very good singleplayer game, except filled with MMO-like systems that bring it down from being "truly excellent" - the equipment system, sheer number of Quests, collectible grinding, and the amount of permanently-missable content being its biggest flaws.

15 different accounts for the Second Chance contest. I focused most heavily on Smash/Mario, Dark Souls/Skyrim, and The Witcher 3/Persona 5 as the most important matches to get correct in order to correctly predict the winner of all 15 matches. I also had a few brackets attempt to consider the possibility of RE2 > ME2 and The Witcher 3 winning the entire contest through a rally.

The current range of scores for my Second Chance bracket entries is 278 to 376.

and thats your opinion fair enough. Smash for me if the worst game by a country mile.

still a good game despite having horrible single player story mode but its fun. I get it.

could Galaxy beat Brawl today?
could 3d world beat smash 4?

MithosLowell 5/8/2020 6:34:39 PM#337
Galaxy yes. 3d world hell no

3d world would be weak as f***
While I'm utterly pissed Halitosis of the Wild made it to the finals - it's an incredibly boring game that forces limitations onto the player, and doesn't live up to previous "Legend of Zelda" games like Twilight Princess, The Wind Waker, A Link Between Worlds, Majora's Mask and Link's Awakening - I'm also upset about some other losses.

Back when Bravely Default was released, and for a good few years afterwards, I absolutely adored that game; I saw it as one of the best JRPGs, with deep combat, wonderful characters, a great narrative, and wonderfully-designed locations. However, recently, I've become able to see just how tedious and repetitive it gets, both trying to fully level every Job, and the lategame. So while I don't like Monster Hunter - I see that series as yet another resource-grinder, something I don't have the patience for - I can see how Bravely Default lost to it. Not happy about it, but this loss I can understand.

Don't get how Halitosis of the Wild beat Dragon Quest XI, either. Disgusting.

Also, Horizon: Zero Dawn beating Borderlands 2. How? The latter, from what I can tell, has the more engaging gameplay, better characters, and has male player characters; Borderlands 2 should have won.

DOOM vs Resident Evil 2...is this the original DOOM, or 2016's DOOM (or, as some call it, "DOOM 4")?

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate beating A Link Between Worlds is rubbish. One's a multiplayer-focused game with nothing to offer solo players (whether they're solo by choice, or not), while the other is a wonderful, fleshed-out singleplayer game with so much to offer. Not happy with this outcome either.

Octopath Traveller beating Undertale makes no sense either. The first game has a very bland story with uninteresting characters and a poor man's take at Bravely Default combat; the second game has excellent characters, fun gameplay, and three different endings. How did the first game win?

I am glad Super Mario Galaxy 2 lost to Witcher 3, though; the vast majority of Wii games are unplayable garbage due to a dependency on dysfunctional motion controls, and the Galaxy duo have their own design failures to boot (such as limiting Mario to 3 HP, being quite linear, and having unlikeable characters - looking at you, Rosalina).

I hope Persona 5 wins. It's, once again, a fantastic JRPG with (mostly) wonderful characters, narrative, locations, etc.

I'm not happy Xenoblade Chronicles 2 lost to Batman: Arkham City, of all things. The latter's slow and dull, while the former has wonderful characters, combat, narrative and locations. Sure, it does have its flaws (gacha, some Affinity Chart nodes, a handful of Quests, etc.), but it's still a much more enjoyable time than Arkham City ever was.

Lastly, Pokemon HeartGold (as in, back when Pokemon was actually great and worth purchasing and playing, though Black/White 2 are much better than HeartGold/SoulSilver) vs Skyrim. Err...the latter has a largely empty open-world, gets repetitive, has limited stamina (though thankfully not weapon/shield fragility), and an overabundance of Quests. Oh, and is incredibly buggy, even now - despite being rereleased on practically every single console imaginable.
How could it beat HeartGold/SoulSilver, which have a much more concise design, a smaller and much more memorable world, more enjoyable gameplay, and almost no programming flaws?
