I think: Final Fantasy VII Remake Animal Crossing: New Horizons Ghost of Tsushima The Last of Us Part II Hades Spider-Man: Miles Morales Cyberpunk 2077 Ori and the Will of the Wisps Yakuza: Like a Dragon Resident Evil 3 The two I am fairly unclear on are Miles Morales and Ori. I am feeling pretty good about GoT being fairly strong, and you all underestimated Hades. The thing is GameFAQs users are pretty keyed in to how games are received usually, so even in cases of low playrate well received games can do better than a more well known one. Hence RE3 at the bottom! Edit: I would put DOOM Eternal between Miles Morales and Cyberpunk, Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity and Paper Mario: The Origami King in that order between Cyberpunk and Ori, and Fall Guys between Yakuza and RE3. There is no way Miles Morales (a glorified expansion) beats DOOM Eternal. Spoilers. Here is how GotY 2020 is gonna play out 01. Final Fantasy VII Remake 02. Animal Crossing: New Horizons 03. The Last of Us Part II 04. Ghost of Tsushima 05. Hades 06. Cyberpunk 2077 07. DOOM Eternal 08. Yakuza: Like a Dragon 09. Spider-Man: Miles Morales 10. Resident Evil 3 Demon's Souls will probably be #3 if it is included but it shouldn't be because if it is Xenoblade Definitive Edition should be in it as well and that can give Animal Crossing a run for its money. |

that’s the tricky thing about Miles Morales, will it get treated as an
expansion or not? It is effectively an expansion, but got treated like a
full game by the marketing push. I think Hades will only build strength from here and potentially be the strongest indie in a couple of years. That game is a big deal. I just decided to change this sig. Blaaaaaaargh azuarc |

don't know if we'll be getting system GotY polls this year.
Considering the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S recently came out and with both
facing huge shortages with most people unable to get one, maybe Allen
thought it wasn't the right time to run system GotY polls for those 2

and PS5 could have been combined this year if that was an issue. Same
with the Xbox systems. But, I guess he decided to just do away with the

Finally got around to updating my game system ownership spreadsheet, which you can find here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iMtyUuzmT5ggmYy-xbiGf7fcloXuhkQuu4ZIC2nGI4M/pub PS5 and Xbox Series X/S had very little increase in ownership from their launch day results. They are getting off to an even slower start than the PS4 and Xbox One. For comparison purposes: PS4 - 8.48% on 11/15/2013, 16.66% on 12/28/2013 PS5 - 8.18% on 11/12/2020, 11.62% on 12/26/2020 Xbox One - 4.50% on 11/22/2013, 7.47% on 12/29/2013 Xbox Series X/S - 6.01% on 11/10/2020, 7.54% on 12/27/2020 PS5 is already about 5% behind the PS4 at a similar point in time. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X/S is similarly struggling to gain ownership following a better than expected launch day result. Even the extremely hated Xbox One gained more ownership from launch day to the end of 2013 than the Xbox Series X/S did in a similar time period. It seems like the effect of the scalpers is extremely strong for this generation's new consoles than they were for the PS4 and Xbox One. It is the best explanation for the 2 new consoles getting off to such a slow start, and then you throw in a global pandemic on top of that which has hurt economies around the world and resulted in mass job losses. Switch also increased its ownership to an all-time high of 69.07%, surpassing the original Wii's all-time high of 69.03%. I've
been fiddling with the 2015 games x-stats on lol x-stats and they look
like they've been adjusted very well, with only a few cases that stuck
out to me as blatantly wrong. Granted a lot of the 2010s games are
going to be a lot different strength-wise next time we see them but
still. Why do people act like the left is the party of social justice crusaders? |

Expect this game to be fodder in future contests. Yakuza dragon is the better game so no surprise. |

Not
voting isn’t the same as antivoting. Neither game has been antivoted
because they are ten option polls. A game with a dedicated fanbase like
Yakuza obviously benefits more from a ten option poll than a more
mainstream game. We won’t know how TLOUII would do with fewer options

Yeah,
we understand from past experience that multiway polls aren't the same
as 1-on-1 because you can't anti-vote, and GOTY results don't
necessarily translate to contest results. Regardless, TLOU2 would be a low midcarder at best, I think. |

Where the f*** is Xenoblade DE if Persona 5 Royal was allowed in? Seriously what is this? Typical of Allen to exclude obvious entrants for absolutely no reason (Kingdom Hearts III in 2019) and make contest ruining decisions like the 2 games per series rule which in turn let a 100 fodder indie games in GotD2. I'm scratching my head at this format as well. The system by system poll works much better for our GotY polls. |
