Zelda and Final Fantasy fans both knew that it was time to fall in line, but Ocarina of Time avenged its 2004 defeat.

It's crazy how much OoT and FF7 have fallen from their peak. Those two were untouchable back in the day.

OoT probably regained whatever it lost when BotW came out. It's biggest asset is that Zelda is a series that's actually active and continuing to put out well-liked new titles.

Atari and other being this high makes me wonder how many % of this site’s regulars are close to or over 50.

Given how well Atari is doing, how poorly Microsoft is doing, and that all the "Other" votes have to be coming from somewhere, does Coleco beat Microsoft if it was an option here?

In my case my dad gave me his Atari 7800. I'm only 29 even though Atari was my first.

I'm 38 and my first system was an NES

i'm 33 and my first handheld was the GBC and my first console was the N64

later got some hand-me-downs from my family so I went backwards

Mine was “bro you don’t have to be 50 to start with Atari”.

I'm 36 and my first console was a Master System. Although i have no idea when i got either that or my Mega Drive. The first console i remember the year for was the PS1 which i got Christmas 97.

As a matter of historical record, I wanted to have an archive of every age poll trend chart (going back to 2009), so that's the only reason I continue doing trend charts for the age polls.

With the continued aging of this site's userbase, the trends have become more diluted. The userbase here is too old to have any notable age demographic to be the driver of any noticeable trends. Even my proposed "After Work Vote" is nowhere to be found in the trends, possibly because almost the entire site userbase is in the age range where they should have a full-time job (the demographic expected to be the main driver of an After Work Vote), unless they're working less than full-time (or no job) due to a disability.

The main reason the age poll is still worth looking at is to examine the changes in the site's average age and average date of birth. In the 2024 age poll, the average age has increased to 37.85 (up from 35.49 in 2022). The average date of birth has gone backwards by 129 days, from 12/20/1986 in the 2022 poll to 8/13/1986 in the 2024 poll.

At least Conker's Bad Fur Day and Perfect Dark are better options than DK64 and Pokemon Snap.

My gut says this is a rough performance for Rebirth.

Not that it should have any bearing since the only competition for GOTY it has this year is a 2D Zelda starring Zelda and the only time we'll see it in a contest setting will be years from now (if ever), but this does not inspire me.

That said, this is a far better performance than I expected for my GOTY, Unicorn Overlord.

Even if we do get another games contest, it's hard to tell how nominations would affect the 3 part remake. Does only Remake get on as proxy? Maybe the finale instead?

So the difference between FF6 and FF7 Rebirth is equal to the difference between TTYD and its remake.

Since FF7 is stronger than FF6, FF7 Rebirth is getting a strong remake deboost.

Maybe we can calculate what OoT 3D would be worth!
