Man Melee had to be really good...I haven't played a single Smash game so I am not sure but seems like it.

Ultimate made Smash 4 even more obsolete than Smash 4 made Brawl. It's simple enough.

They're all really good but Melee is a bit more different in terms of gameplay.

Ultimate is the correct winner.

Melee has closed the gap a bit. I wonder if it's because Ultimate is done getting updates, so a lot of people are done playing it.

Brawl also gained this time around somehow.

It has some nostalgic fans, and it's probably easy to gain a bit when your percentage is already in the gutter.

And yet Smash 4 went down...!

I said it was easier, not guaranteed! You can still fail on easy mode!

Smash 4 really does have nothing going for it. Ultimate did literally everything better. Brawl at least has the Subspace Emissary cutscenes that people remember fondly.

Feels silly not to include the virtual console release of it as an option.

Smash 4 isn't old enough for nostalgia, and it doesn't stand out anymore either. Brawl will always have subspace.

I'm not sure this board will ever have nostalgia for the Wii U era though.

Yeah the other games have something about them. Smash 4 is just a worse version of Ultimate.

Smash 4 had virtually non-existent single player, so it really has nothing going for it when Ultimate replaced it as the current Smash game.

Eh spirit battles are kinda bad. The 3DS single player mode was on the right track.

I don’t think there’s a single cool thing exclusive to smash 4. Did anyone give a s*** about the custom move sets? What a waste of dev time

Custom movesets would have gotten more traction if they weren't insanely time-consuming to unlock.

The few actual custom moves are good but the majority are "bigger/stronger but slower" and "smaller/faster but weaker" and yeah, the unlock "method" is just awful.

Not saying Smash Run was all around good.

But it at least had some adventure like levels based on actual Nintendo properties and you fought actual enemies like melee adventure mode.

I would take Smash Run existing over not existing for sure, but I don't feel like Ultimate was missing out w/o it

I honestly wonder what Sakurai would have added to Ultimate if he had 6 more months of dev time. Do you think Smash Run would even be on the list of things to add?

One thing Sakurai did say is he wanted to add an interactive tutorial to Smash but it just hasn't worked out:

It's also kinda wild that Ryu and Chun-Li combined are making up almost half the vote, so they've both gone up since last time, too

Also in 2021 despite losing Chun-Li significantly reduced the gap from here to the end so she's probably got this.

We're getting close to the beginnings of the 2004 and 2009 Games Contests at the beginning of April, so we can get some discussions going again soon, hopefully.

We have a re-run of the Leap Year Day poll again. The options are mostly unchanged from 2020, with only the third option changed slightly. The original version of this poll in 2012 was notable for being the first detectable instance of an After Work Vote in any poll.

Man Waluigi has completely tanked since the last time this poll was run three years ago

Mario has a chance of winning outright. Wonder if it's the movie effect.

Not getting into SSBU kinda kills the hype for Waluigi. I'm sure he'll bounce back when the next one is announced.

It's weird considering the game had been out for a while at the point of the last time though. I know we still had some DLC left to be announced but no one expected him in those.
